The “Tuckahoe” Tract is located west of U. S. Hwy. 421 & N. C. 11 (north of Atkinson, N. C.) on S. R. # 1206 (Tuckahoe Road) and S. R. #1207 (Halfway Branch School Road).  Access to tract is from S. R. # 1206 (Tuckahoe Road) which is south of S. R. #1209 (Shiloh Road), west of U. S. Hwy. 421 & N. C. 11.

The prominent soils of this tract consist of the following:

  1. Goldsboro (GoA) - Fine Sandy Loam, 0-2% Slopes
  2. Norfolk (NoA) - Loamy Fine Sand, 0-2% Slopes
  3. Norfolk (NoB) - Loamy Fine Sand, 2-6% Slopes
  4. Rains (Ra) - Fine Sandy Loam

These soils are moderately to very well drained on convex, interstream divides.  Permeability is moderate with the seasonal high water table 4 to 6 feet below the surface from winter to early spring.  These types are used mainly as cropland or for building site development.  In a few areas, it is used as woodland.
